2001
On the 23rd April 2001 the first season of Big Brother Australia aired, being hosted by Gretel Killeen. The show had 14 housemates from across Australia confined in a house built in the theme park, Dreamworld. The entire house was recorded by camera's and microphones 24/7, and broadcasted on channel TEN for the whole nation to watch. The season lasted a duration of 86 days, ending on the 16th July 2001. Although the first season was rather basic compared to that later in the series, it was still very popular. Ben Williams was the winner of the series and the runner-up was Blair McDonough.

2002
On April 8th of 2002 Big Brother Australia returned for another massively popular season, lasting 85 days, one day shorter than the first season. Runner-up, Nathan Martin, married fellow housemate, Jessica Hardy, after the series. The wedding aired on television. During a live eviction, a 25 year old man ran up naked onto the stage and as a result, was fined $100.
SEASON 2 HOUSMATES
2003
The third season of Big Brother Australia lasted a duration of 86 days, starting on 27 April and ending on 21 July. In this season the housemates started in two separate houses. These houses were named the "round house" and the "square house". On the 22nd night, all the Housemates were locked into their bedrooms while the two houses were merged and pool and kitchen areas were revealed. For the first time in the Big Brother Australia series, the cameras were completely hidden from housemates. The winner of Series 3 was a fish and chips owner, Regina Bird.
SEASON 3 HOUSEMATES

2004
The fourth season of Big Brother Australia, or Big Brother 4, was a 87 day long season. This season went back to the original ways of Big Brother, following the changes from season 3. The prize money of this season was shockingly quadrupedal-ed, bringing it up to $1,000,000. The winner was Trevor Butler, who proposed to his girlfriend on live stage. The runner-up being Bree Amer, who was evicted but sent back into the house after a counting error. This was also the season in which Merlin Luck protested on a live eviction show, putting tape over his mouth, holding a banner saying 'Free The Refugees' and refusing to speak.
SEASON 4 HOUSEMATES

2005
The fifth season of Big Brother Australia was a 101 day long season, starting on the 8th May and ending on the 15 August. The season's theme was 'Single, Sexy and competitive', with producers looking for people that would have a sexual relationship on camera. The biggest twist of this season was the Logan brothers. Twin brothers, Greg and David, entered the House as a single person named Logan (their middle names). The twins were to enter the Big Brother house and repeatedly change places at Big Brothers command without the other housemates noticing. Though fellow housemate, Glenn, exposed the truth in the first week. After this, both of the twins were allowed to continue living on in the House, but were treated as one person (Nominations and evictions). Late in the series one twin was evicted. The other continued in the house the won the series. The twins shared the money equally.
SEASON 5 HOUSEMATES

2006
The 6th season of the Big Brother Australia series started on 22 April 2006 and ended on 31 July, a total of 101 days. A total of 23 housemates entered in this season, 15 of them entering on day 0. The winner was Jamie, with Camilla runner up. This was the year 'save' votes and the punishment room were added, as well as 'Big Brother Uncut' being renamed 'Big Brother: Adults Only'. One of the twists was mother and daughter, Karen and Krystal. They were to enter the house, without reveling their connection and fellow housemates were left to guess who and what the connections were between. The housemates failed, and Karen and Krystal continued on in the house.
